Boston Marathon April 2012

In April, the women competed in the rescheduled Boston Marathon, having been disappointed with the original September 2011 marathon being cancelled. Competition was as usual lacking, but last year’s course record, set by a slightly different Birmingham crew, was waiting to be broken.
Arriving in below freezing conditions, and vey early in the morning, the four were dubious as to whether they could last the distance. However, a few malt loafs, sunburn, 4.5 hours and an extremely gutsy row later, they crossed the line into Boston in an exact time of 4:25.03, knocking over 30 minutes off the previous record.
