Regatta

The regatta results are here. Conditions were almost flat calm early in the day but a head wind gradually built up.
The regatta draw is now available, details will be emailed out to OARA contacts later tonight.
There are no 400m races this year so the beginners’ races will be run over the whole distance of 800m.
A bit of explanation about the round robins used
2 entries – straight final
3 entries – each crew races each of the other 2 crews resulting in 3 races. The winner is the crew which has won the most, or in the event of a tie the crew with the fastest time, or biggest winning margin
4 entries – each crew races each of the other 3 crews resulting in 6 races. The winner is the crew which has won the most, or in the event of a tie the crew with the fastest time, or biggest winning margin
5 entries – Four crews are drawn at random into a straight forward knockout and the winner progresses to the final. The two first round losers and the 5th crew take part in a 3 boat round robin as described above to find the other finallist.
6 entries – two 3 boat round robins and a final
7 entries – one 3 and one 4 boat round robin and a final
and so on
