Fours Head results
After a solid few weeks of training, and a competitive selection, a BRC women’s crew took to the tideway to compete in Fuller’s Head of the River Fours.
A surprisingly painless marshalling process later, and we were off! Storming over the start line at rate 34, we quickly overtook three crews, settling into a steady rhythm at 31 after the first bridge. This carried right through the middle third of the race, in which we proceeded to gradually take another two crews and enjoy the support from Hammersmith Bridge.
Beyond Hammersmith, the length of the race began to really test our endurance. The last 1.5k proceeded to be a painful experience, but the crew really knuckled down to overtake one more crew, and hold of the chasing Cambridge women. Eventually crossing the finish line together, we wound down and reflected on what had been a hard race, and possibly not our tidiest row…
After a very (very) lengthy row back to Tideway Scullers BH, who were extremely accommodating, we de-rigged and awaited the results.
Our result put us 8th of 44 in the WIM2 4+ category, and 3rd of the WIM2 4+ club crews – a commendable result, so well done!
Just 35 seconds to make up on the top club crew, so let the training continue…
The crew and time was:
21:47.1 WIM2 4+ S Tasha Scott, 3 Emma Tod, 2 Emma Raynor, B Lisa Meegan, C Tina Arora
Many thanks to Tina for coxing, and for the support from Dave and Roddy.
