Metropolitan Regatta June 2012

After a lot of hard training, the women took to Dorney for the last time before it was taken over for the Olympics, to compete in the Metropolitan regatta over two days.

This time, conditions were cold, with a lovely head wind to add to the mix.

Saturday:

The WIM2 4+, aiming at Henley, had their first full crew race. Unfortunately they came 5th in their heat, but pushed hard through the exhausting headwind.

The WIM3 4+ also struggled with the conditions, particularly as a light crew against many others and came 5th in their heat too. It should be said that their heat was particularly strong, and they would have placed much higher in 5 of the other 6 heats!

Sunday:

The WIM2 4+, decidedly tired after a full day’s racing, and set against fresh crews  came 6th in their heat, but with a very respectable time, and a big improvement on the row on Saturday.

The WIM3 4+ involved crew members for whom this was their first regatta! The experience of racing at Dorney is a great one, and although they came last in their heat they handled the course well.

The crews were:

Saturday:

WIM3 4+    S Tasha Scott, 3 Emma Tod, 2 Cat Wood, B Shona Marsh C Lisa Meegan

WIM2 4+    S Tasha Scott, 3 Emma Tod, 2 Sarah Gregory, B Lisa Meegan, C Shona Marsh
