About the club

Birmingham Rowing Club is a friendly club, always happy to welcome new members. For complete beginners, we offer Learn to Row courses and taster sessions throughout the year.  For more information see our Learn to Row page.

We have thriving junior and adult squads who train and compete across the UK, all year round, as well as a recreational squad for those who enjoy non-competitive rowing. Our social calendar provides a chance for club members to get to know teammates off the water.

Junior

Our thriving Junior Squad is open to those aged 11-18  no matter what your ability. In recent years the junior squad have competed at national level, and one of our current members holds the British record for fastest half marathon on the erg for 15-16 year olds. There are plenty of coaches on hand to help you build up your rowing technique and to get you ready for racing.

Recreational

If you don’t fancy competing and would just like to enjoy being out on the water, getting some fresh air and exercise, the recreational squad is for you.

Competitive Squads

There are three squads that are available for adult members who have rowed before and want to improve their technique through coaching and train on a regular basis to prepare them for competition.

To join any of these squads, please get in touch with us with a brief history of your rowing experience. We will then put you in contact with the relevant squad captain.
